I have been a client of Jan's for about 4 years. She was recommended by my realtor and I required someone familiar with river properties (flood zone). Over these 4 years I have had my flood insurance exponentailly raised and my homeowners insurance canceled due to wildfire risk. Jan Loewen is a local, effective, efficient, kind, and relationship-based insurance broker. She treats her clients with priority and it is felt and appreciated. When her name is mentioned it brings a smile with it in conversations I have frequently. Being a broker is important, but building a relationship is imperative. I was given a quote for car and home insurance, it looked reasonable so I paid for the whole year immediately. The agent is actually friendly and follows up quickly, so I at first thought I got a great policy because the customer service was great the price was right! However, about two months later, I was told they made a mistake and I owed more despite paying in full for the whole year! The amount they claim I owe wasn’t the issue: I told them this was unprecedented and I shouldn’t have to pay for their mistake, especially since this felt like a “bait and switch.” They sold me on a price, and then raised it later on! The agent let it go for a few months, but then aggressively followed up on this payment, and it made me wonder, if they’re this aggressive over collecting $190, imagine the nightmare of dealing with them if you needed to collect an insurance payout from them! Be prepared to lawyer up if you ever experience a big disaster! Icing on the cake: A year later, they sent this insignificant “debt” to a collection agency, which is rarely ever done by insurance agencies. I personally have been professional with the agent, and have no clue why they’re so aggressive. Needless to say, I switched to another provider, and am now saving close to $1000 per year for the same insurancepolicy! I’m going to pay the “debt” because the amount is so small, but working with this agent has been an absolute nightmare. I don’t know anyone else who has been treated this way by an insurance agent. Buyers beware:don’t fall for this seasoned sales agent: she’s amazing on the surface, but is unpredictable once you are her customer.
