If I could give negative stars on this review I would. I also want to state that I have never taken the time to write a negative review before, but in light of my recent experience with the VIVA refinance as well as my interactions with 2 separate employees of VIVA finance I am compelled to write this review. I was solicited by VIVA finance through multiple emails and multiple text messages to refinance my current loan with them. I went on the VIVA website to process the refinance, during this process the website shows all the current personal information they have for the loan including name, address, salary etc. In these sections there is an edit option where the information can be edited. I proceeded to edit both my last name due to getting married, address and salary (mine increased). VIVA website allowed me to update this information. Once updated I proceeded through the remainder of the refinance and submitted it. Once complete I got a message stating I was not eligible. I also received an email stating my refinance application was close. no reason was given just that I could contact customer support, which I did. While chatting with Donna online she told me my refinance was denied due to changing my personal information. When I explained that their website gave me the option and ability to edit information without a disclaimer that it would disqualify me, she was unable to explain to me why other than "changes I made to my personal information impacted my eligibility since refinance is designed to be efficient" After going back and forth for 10+ minutes without resolve I requested to speak to a supervisor, which Donna was hesitant to do. When I finally got a call back from Maya she apologized to me and stated that they are still developing their refinance options and that she would "forward my feedback to her internal team" When I asked to speak to Maya supervisor she proceeded to tell me that she was the head of operations. I asked for her last name which she replied "that is confidential" I expressed that I didn't understand why if she was the head of operation why her last name would be confidential and that I could jsut look it up online as executive teams are typically public. At this time Maya decided to correct herself and let me know she was jsut head of phone operation where she is. I continued to state that even if she is the head of phone operation, unless she was the president/CEO there has to be someone she reports to someone and I'd like to speak to them. She told me that her supervisor is just "internal" and doesn't take calls. (That in and of itself as a business practice blows my mind.) Maya even raised her voice at me towards the end of this call in which I had to ask her not to do. The first time I asks she told me she wasn't, in which I explained that although she may not realize it, she was getting worked up and how she was speaking to me in that moment was very different then how she was in the beginning of the call. She apologized and informed me what she could & would do was talk to her "internal team" to see what they could do since there isn't a disclaimer on their website about updating information could disqualify you.
I can only imagine that there has to be some sort of legal implication on VIVA finance if they are soliciting their current loan customers with eligibility to refinance, giving them the ability to edit personal information yet not disclosing that editing that information with disqualify them from that VIVA solicited them that they were eligible for. How is it legal for VIVA finance to disqualify me from refinancing a loan solely based on updating my last name to what it is legally according to the US government? VIVA please explain to me how your decision to disqualify me due to me editing information YOUR WEBSITE allowed me to edit is legal? Maybe I need to pursue this further with legal representation.

I applied for a loan through my employer as it is not solely based on credit. Given that I make fairly decent money, I didn't anticipate any issue and thought it would be an easier alternative to have a small amount deducted straight from payroll. After applying, I was denied with no "checked box" that my credit was a factor in their generic disclosure letter. So, with a more than reasonable income and credit not being a factor, I hit "contact support" to which the page breaks and times out. In addition, no documentation was provided in the account created. I attempted to call and can't seem to get through to anyone. If your place of employment also works with them and lists them as an "employee benefit" I'd suggest informing them on your experience if you've run into a similar issue. Not only is communication extremely important when it comes to financial information, it is also important to work with the employees when contracted by their employers. And unfortunately, I can't even tell you why I wasn't a candidate when the company doesn't provide any documentation or any opportunities to actually communicate with them. Therefore, I wouldn't recommend this company to anyone.

Second time applying for a loan with these people. The only reason I applied a second time is because they kept sending me emails to apply. I waited 3 days sent over additional documents just to get denied again with no reason to why I got denied. I been on my job for 16 years, make decent money and have ok credit but was denied. This place was a real waste of my time and credit because they did a hard pull. Something told me not to even waste my time applying with these people. Very disappointing.

They run your credit with a hard inquiry and deny your application based off of credit . They definitely are not a company of true intentions. I only applied because it said it was based off of employment and credit wasn't the only determining factor for approval but seems like thats the only factor since upon requesting reason for denial it was determined off of my credit . This place is designed to give high hopes for us employees thats been working for years with bad credit just trying to consolidate debit in a high economy world .

Had this loan for a year, 34% APR mind you. It was nice thinking I was staying ahead which improves my credit score because any bonuses or extra pay they would take their portion UNTIL it came to refinance. On medical leave for my son and customer service saw Viva didn’t get the end of month dues and once it’s paid they can discuss refinancing the loan I have paid on time and then some. So I pay end of month and through the next pay cycle so once I get back to work there aren’t any disruptions. Call back, since I payed TWO payments through my debit card I was illegible for a refinance. Not only am I ahead on payments, they took TWO more payments from me and the only option they gave was a month forbearance then I wouldn’t be eligible period for refinance. Absolute disgusting ethics and toxic methods. I hope no one else gets devalued by this loan company.

Company can be good to work with but with anything it has pros and cons

- easy approval if you meet the requirements

Customer Service reached out to me to further explain stipulations about refinancing. Their refinancing program is new so may take some time to generate. I switched employers ( even with a steady income and evidence) and was not able to
qualify this time around.

Cons-
Make sure that you REFINANCE BEFORE you switch repayment programs or Employers. this may improve your chances if you do so

Horrible! Denied me after obtaining all financial information, banking etc! They most def base their decision on credit score so if your credit isn’t too good, no matter what you make at your job, they’ll still deny you! They took 5 days to string me along, and you literally wait over a hr to get an agent. I don’t understand why employers still recommend this company. Total waste of time and energy applying with them! You have been warned consumers…
