These people seem to be seriously incompetent. Our “zoom” meeting was held via facetime on a cell phone where the preparer had his camera off. He didn’t take the time to explain or educate. He wasn’t upfront about his fees and basically backed us into a corner of paying for him by crunching all the numbers and filling out the forms before disclosing the fees to us. He filled out both my and my fiancé’s taxes wrong multiple times even after my fiancé went back and explained what was wrong three times. He also made careless mistakes like getting our address, occupation, and SSN wrong.

James has done taxes for my in laws for years and it was only recently discovered by a real CPA that he has been doing their taxes ALL WRONG. he continues to charge extra money for just looking at a form and has taken advantage of them. They will NOT be returning to him and I hope no one else will! STAY AWAY unless you want the IRS to reach out to you.

We have been doing our taxes with Jim for over 10 years. Last year I got a notice from the IRS that there was an error on our taxes for one of the previous years we had filed. It appeared Jim did not include the sale of our home even though we had given him the papers to do so and he did not report a distribution we had made. I went to Him last summer to correct the error. He charged me an additional $50 to fix. I paid him but decided since most deductions went away I would file my taxes myself this year. Using Turbo Tax I discovered he still did not make the necessary corrections I paid him to fix last summer. I decided to take all of the filings to a CPA to review. The CPA discovered that Jim did not file form 5405 showing sale of home and repayment of remainder of first time homebuyers credit and reported The distribution as taxable when it is not. I brought the issues to Jim’s attention and he refused to take ownership of the issues or reimburse us the $250 he charged us.
Jim’s response was “I am sorry you feel that way but we reviewed those in detail when you were here”. For those of you that have used Jim in the past you know that after he prints your taxes he collects your money and does not review in detail with you. He also stated “Take whatever action you feel you need to take”. So to anyone using Jim currently or planning on using him, note he will not support you if he makes any mistakes and he will certainly not take ownership of any mistakes he makes. You are better off using Turbo Tax at least you have audit support if needed and they are half the cost of his services!

Been coming for at least 5 years. Early on we saw James but more recently we have seen Mike and James is often swamped. Seems to have worked out great. Its not inexpensive but they care to get you the best return and they do way better than I can. Every year they challenge themselves to improve your return and they usually succeed. Had a wonderful experience with Jim. Scheduling online was easy, the office was convenient, and he was super pleasant. As someone with multiple W2s, 1099s and my own business, he was super affordable.

Jim has done our taxes for a few years now. It was noted during filing of this year an error was made during last years tax prep. During the time of filing this years tax he was agreeable it was his error that was made and agreed to pay a portion of the fees and interest. When time came he refused to pay for his mistake, failed to send in the amendment and acted as if he never knew of this error.

I have been going to James for over 15 years.. The past couple of years he has had his son-in-law put my information into the database and then I would go into his office and he would go over it. then that stopped and his son-in-law would do everything.. mind you I made my appointment with James.. fine , I understand it’s a busy time.. however this year I made it a point to ask solely for James due to some questions I had..

February comes and he completes out taxes. Ours are not difficult , wd2’s, I have a house .. not claiming any kids anymore.. no other major expenses. I worked a lot last year .. my job was essential and so I got screwed and owed the federal government 2602.00. Then a few weeks after filing I get audited by the state first time ever owing and getting audited in all my life..

Called James, texted James no answer.. called his office left messages.. received no call back.. I researched and called the state and figured it out on my own.. I paid the federal government there money.

And guess what I received today a letter from the federal government telling me I owe more almost 600. More.. I call James, he answered. Said send him copies of what I got .. took pic and texted it to him as requested.. received a call back about hour later to only be told that it was my fault, I gave him the wrong information 🤬 really I gave him everything in black and white nothing verbal.. only verbal information I give , I give it to him every year the same.. my donations.. I could not believe his response that it was all me, my fault. He was immediately defensive when I said James I gave you everything in black and white nothing more.. 🤨🤔🤔 that’s a person deflected.

Wow.. all these years…. All I see when I go is turbo tax, don’t they sell that at Best Buy… putting numbers based on the legal documents I provided nothing more .. me writing a check for payment and it getting cashed by Monday (usually go on Saturdays). I got no response or help when I got audited, and I got immediately blamed for giving wrong information.. but I gave nothing verbally.. I never just shot out figures for things I have no clue about, especially dealing with the federal government and State.

I thought a tax preparation agent was supposed assist with these things or are they not? I have always recommended and sent folks his way.. definitely will not again.. my 15 years of customer loyalty (I could have stayed with Al Richie) has ended.

Fantastic people and I got my taxes done quickly and effectively. They e-filed for us and we are expecting a nice return. Jim is the best!
