When my 94 year-old army veteran father passed away, Karam Property Management deducted $800 from my father's refundable deposit to cover the cost of replacing a 19 year-old countertop with a brand new one. As the life expectancy of a countertop in MA is 25 years, they should have deducted a prorated amount of $192 but, instead, charged us/me the entire amount which was the only financial inheritance left to me. I asked senior property manager and daughter of the owner, Melissa Panchley, treat us fairly but she refused. I should also mention that the elevator in the Westport Village Apartments was out of order for nearly a year and emergency personnel had to carry my father up and down the stairs multiple times until they finally had it fixed. Tenants in their 80s and 90s had to walk the stairs during that time.
