Mary was prompt and professional, and so far, it appears she is proficient with filing my taxes. I was somewhat upset, however, when Mary basically hijacked a speaker-phone conversation I was having with a TD Bank representative when endeavoring to sort out an issue regarding documentation required to complete the tax-filing process. Mary called me "a very literal person" and seemed to think I needed help interpreting what the TD Bank rep had told me, and how I should respond to what I'd been told me. I'm a 62-year-old military veteran, college graduate, 8-time published, award-winning author who has lived all over the world. I usually don't need help interpreting what I'm being told--unless what I'm being told is in a foreign language.

Be careful of a tax service provider who will not back up their work for free. I have used Drenen for a couple of years. Upon my arrival in February, the tax preparer asked if I would like to purchase insurance in case something ends up returned and in question.

My work company shorted me some tax documents last season and the Drenen tax preparer said “We’ll try to send the paperwork as is.” I was hoping for the best and put my trust in Drenen but of course I got the dreaded letter from the DOR. Drenen charged me $50 bucks for the fix.

With their experience in tax prep, you know darn well they knew my paperwork would be held up. They saw an opportunity to make an extra $50 bucks and took it. I haven’t used the word “Fraud” yet but doesn’t this seem a bit shady to you?. I’m switching to a new tax prep service this season. If you stay with this company, make sure there is no question about any of your paperwork before it’s submitted.
