I’ve been doing business with Walter J. May approximately 35 years, circa 1989. But no more. Gail Corrigan was pleasure to deal with, unlike her replacement whom I find rude, refuses to return calls and doesn’t bother with requests for quotes.

My homeowners insurance was up for renewal at the beginning of May. Auto insurance is at the end of the month. Knowing the homeowners was up for renewal, one evening I logged into the insurance provider’s site. I was shocked to see a 93% increase in the basic premium.

The next day, April 9th, I called the office. I was informed my agent was working from home. So I left a voice mail asking for a return call.

Two days later, no response. I had to drive right past the agency that morning, so I decided to drop in. My agent wasn’t in the office again. The receptionist brought me into a conference room then went back to her desk to phone my agent on her cell. She was successful after a bit. So I wound up in the Walter J. May conference room, conversing with my agent on the receptionist's cell phone.

I don’t think I’ve ever had the misfortune of dealing with such a rude customer facing individual. She started by giving me a questionable story about why the increase. Throughout the remainder of the conversation she constantly talked over me. Nonetheless, we spent quite some time one the phone, going over my property. Supposedly, she was taking notes to shop my policy around to other insurers for quote requests. She stated she “would need a few days” to do that because she was so busy. My answer to her was that a “few days” was fine. In fact, if she needed a few more days, that too was not a problem. All I asked is that she “stay in touch”.

That was on April 11. It is now May 7 and I still haven't received the courtesy of a communication of any kind. No phone call, email or US mail. A week after that conference room call, I began the process of shopping around for another agency.

I now have an agent who returns my calls and is pleasant while doing so. I’m also paying less money for better insurance.

If you’re looking to be ignored then this is the agency for you. I won’t tolerate this behavior and have now moved my homeowners insurance. My auto policy will be following suit at the end of the month.

Please don't bother issuing an insincere apology.
