Finding an accountant is difficult and stressful. Like many business owners, I've had horrible experiences with accountants in the past, so when we moved to Williamsburg, we reached out and set up an appointment to meet the team.

Our first impressions were absolutely amazing. We met with Journey who made us feel so welcomed and happy that we met with her. She was incredibly knowledgeable and seemed like she genuinely cared.

Once we were handed off to Bruce, it was a different story. The communication with him has been barely by email. We never got past the cost because he barely responds to emails. After one week of multiple emails and no response, we emailed yesterday to let them know we will be going in another direction. Still no response from anyone on the email thread as of this writing.

I am leaving two stars because that sit down with Journey was incredible, but the dealings afterwards were not. If communication is this poor now, how will it be in the future?

I was a client with B&C for 2 years, when I attempted to make my appointment for the 3rd year I was told they wouldn't be doing my taxes any longer and to find another CPA. No notice was given or reasoning other than they felt they couldn't provide me with the service. The only thing I could think of was when I asked why my invoice increase drastically from year 1 to 2. I asked for an itemized invoice detailing my billable hours, which was denied. When I asked for more detail about the invoice I was told I could seek service else where. Frustration aside from year 2, I chose to return for continuity only to be told in Feb by the receptionist to go elsewhere.

Overall very nice up front with many hidden fees which won't be disclosed. Hours were told to be estimated over the many returns they work. If questioned they, without warning, refuse service. No letter in the mail, or explanation will be given by the partners who, make the decision. Extremely high fees also. Think twice before deciding to utilize their service. If they'll treat a retired disabled combat vet this way how will they treat you?

I highly recommend this firm. They have served my practice for over 15 years. They audited previous accountants work and recovered funds, took over payroll when a national company made errors, helped with our 401K plan, and have helped with financial planning. They have been instrumental during the pandemic in assisting with the paperwork needed to keep my practice going during shutdown and with reopening. They are available to discuss strategies for personal and business finance. This firm is in another state, but they have researched out of state tax laws to accommodate my practice. They continue to impress!
