My unit at University Squares was broken into. After being threatened by the assailant that it would happen again the Bella Group refused to let me and my roommate move out of our unit. We have paid November rent but offered to move out early and they still said no! They have no concern for the safety of their tenants and are only concerned about the margins they earn.

EDIT: Spoke with Stephanie Davis and although the final result I got was still not what I was looking for I appreciate her willingness to speak with me on the phone to attempt to find a compromise.

At first I thought that renting from Butterfield Apartments in Flagstaff was a great idea. Until I started the property manager Ali did not take care of the property like she was supposed to where as safety was concerned. Ali waited a whole summer to replace lighting in front of our apartment building. Did nothing to go out to check on her resident who did not have access to cell phones and emails. Wrote email as make sure that we clean up the areas for our neighbors during 3 bad snowstorms that Flagstaff had and still made it her time to keep her seat warm in the office in front of the computer. When I ask for community service help one of them stated that hey always had problems with Butterfield apartments and at that kept charging late fees to other service and church service that helped us out. when we left the place we left the apartment fully cleaned and Ali still kept out deposit. Another fact when we called for maintenance my girlfriend was home all alone when a male maintenance came in the apartment common sense for a property manager should have been that Ali should have been in the apartment to make sure that nothing went wrong with a male inside an apartment with a female but that was not so. Ali made sure that her chair was more important and her computer then the safety of her residents. my suggestion. Do not stay here at Butterfield Apartments if I could I rate this even lower.

I resided at one of the complexes Bella Investments owns and had a horrible experience. I was rushed into an apartment with cockroaches and was told in writing that they would let me out of my lease and now they are not following through with doing so. Also in the 3 years I resided there I was burglarized and had my tires slashed.

I have been a tenant here for some time, recently I was advised that my lease would not be renewed and that I could not apply to live at any of their properties. The company decided not to renew my lease. This was after I sent several emails and left numerous messages that moving would affect my health and I would prefer stay. I was informed by management that legally they do not have to give me a reason for non-renewal "Red Flag". It is the middle of winter, and they want to just kick people out while blacklisting them from renting at their other locations. It's unfortunate to know I am losing a place "just because", I thought this company had integrity and concern for the health and wellbeing of the people who live in their communities. They have proven this not to be the case. Flagstaff government needs step up and get these housing monopolies under control. Send a message that "just because" is not suitable or dignified answer for uprooting someone with health issues or not. If you have issues with this company, contact HUD Fair Housing seems as though there is nothing fair about the way they operate! They deserve no stars for their retaliative and discriminating business practices. Shame, Shame, Shame on you all!

Before you sign your paperwork, make sure they explain the non-refundable deposit. I've heard about a lot of dissatisfied community tenants for a variety of reasons. The updates and remodels they've completed on their units make them nicer, but some of the issues with old water heaters and HVAC units going out should be checked out prior to move in.

I renewed my lease at Mountain View Villa in January this year. I am beginning to regret it. To make a long story short, on Friday, 4/2 the tall, overweight maintenance man was rude to me. And Traci was rude to me.
On Saturday, a different maintenance man on call was grossly unresponsive and ineffective. It took him 9 hours to respond to a call.
Last, the pool has not been opened; the lock is still on the gate, but people have been in the pool area, in the spa and the pool. Evidently the staff believes what is good for their privileged residents is not good for us all. This give me a very unhappy and even angry feeling which follows more pleasant thoughts and feelings about living here.
Following are details of my issues with the staff of Mountain View Villa Apartments.
On Friday, 4/2 I did my laundry. I went to put my clothes in the dryer. As I inserted my key in the doorknob lock, I saw two women approaching with their arms full of laundry. They were too far away for me to wait and hold the door for them, so I left my key (on the key ring) in the lock to aid their entry. After they left and I left, I went back a short time later. I realized I couldn't get in because I didn't have the keyring. It held the keys to my apartment and my car, as well as the laundry room door.
The office was closed. I had my phone but realized I didn't know the number for emergency maintenance. I had forgotten that it was on the sign on the door. I went to the maintenance room in back of the pool, hoping to find someone who could open my apartment door and the laundry room door. A tall, overweight man stood there talking on the phone. I said, "Excuse me?" He keyed off the phone and came out to ask me what I wanted. He gave me a disgusted look and said, "I'm not even on the clock." He walked toward the office and I followed. When he came out of the office he again gave me a scathing look and said, "Traci found your keys. The emergency number is on the door!" I thanked him for his help.
Traci came out and handed me my keys. She said, "I found them in the laundry room door. They weren't even in the right lock." I thanked her.
On Saturday morning, 4/3 at about 8:00 a.m., I went to my kitchen and saw a large circle of dampness on the ceiling above the sink. I immediately called the emergency maintenance number and left a message describing the problem and expressing the opinion that the sink in the apartment above might be leaking.
I waited for a reply. None came.
I went to the apartment above me and told the woman who answered the door about the problem and asked her to check for a leak. I told her I had called maintenance.
I waited for a reply from maintenance. None came. I noticed the circle of wetness was not growing. I went about my business, painting. Much later when my phone rang, I didn't look at it; my hands were in gloves covered with paint. At about 5:00pm, a man showed up saying he was the maintenance guy and just now got my message. He kept looking at his phone and repeating that he didn't notice a call earlier. I told him, "Don't ask me why!" Then I checked my phone and saw a text message asking me to call him, and something about a "rumor."

After living in one of the apartments they ‘manage’ I ran into issues with new staff. Called Feb 11th and 13th and received a return call in February 15th. I was told they would call me back by the 20th - of February! I have called and emailed numerous times since then and have been completely ignored. It is not professional to just act like a problem doesn’t exist. It is not professional to not return calls or follow up. I eventually called the VP and left voice mail explaining the many attempts - Still never received a return call. I not only do not recommend them - I recommend you do not rent from somewhere being ‘managed’ by them. What a joke.
