It was a very pleasant and hassle free experience. Nicole T. was very pro active and very prompt with all my requests. Once she had the policy up to what I needed and paid, she immediately sent to my mortgage company without me asking her. It resulted to a very quick transition for my flood insurance change. Probably took 4-5 days. Might have been lesser, if I was able to reply to her right away for the information she needed.

Before I describe my experience, I want to be very clear that if I were rating Taylor, my rep at Better Flood only, I would have given five stars. Taylor is wonderful. My overall rating is less, simply because Taylor was not the rep I started working with, and although my previous rep was a nice person, he definitely didn't steer me in the best direction. As it turns out, he left the company in the middle of acquiring my new policy, and Taylor took over. Once she did, everything moved along quickly and Taylor was very responsive and communicative throughout.

My situation was a little more involved than most peoples' experience, I'm sure. My mortgage company had already paid, through escrow, my previous flood ins company for a yearly renewal. I found Better Flood before the renewal date (Nov 1), but since the old company had already been paid, it became a confusing series of phone calls between my mort company, Better Flood, the old flood company and the new flood company...just to make sure I could go forth with signing on with a 'new' and less expensive flood insurance company.

Ultimately, it DID work out, although I am now waiting for a reimbursement check from my old company so that I can pay into my escrow to cover what my mortgage company paid. (They basically paid twice).

So given my complicated situation and all the time it took to get here (I'm writing this on Nov 21 and started this process on Oct 29), I would say that in the end, I am GRATEFUL for Better Flood, VERY GRATEFUL I worked with Taylor, and grateful that my policy is lowered by about $500/yr.

There is a one time $200 processing fee that Better Flood charges, but again, the savings in the long run are worth it.

What's nice too, is that Better Flood does a broad sweep of flood ins companies to come up with the best price. Up to finding them, I was calling companies one by one....and got no where.

So best of luck to all of you searching. I recommend Better Flood as one stop you should make on your path!

Because of Caleb Montiel this is probably - no, it is - the most painless experience we've ever had purchasing insurance of any kind. He responded quickly to all our questions in language we could understand and got us flood insurance that would cover the total replacement value of our property at a reasonable rate. We are so relieved and grateful! With other insurance companies, even the one we've had our home owner's insurance with for over 30 years, we could only afford flood insurance for the minimum required by the bank - and that premium was almost 5 times more than with Caleb. I am not exaggerating. What good is coverage that will barely cover the replacement costs of half a house! While I hope we never have to file a claim, I feel that we are in good hands if we do.
