I've lived in a lot of apartments, but this was the worst management by far. They do no properly maintain the property at all. I'm taking grass that comes most of the way up to your knee, pieces of siding that will lay for weeks after they come off in heavy winds, and pest control saying they'll come a certain day, and then never showing up. They are straight out of the 80s, requring rent via paper check. The office ladies are some of the rudest individuals i have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. Maintenance requests are most often ignored. I had my heat break in the winter (an emergency maintainence request by their own leases standards), I waited 12 hours before someone even came out to look. Why? Because I mentioned being pregnant, and pregnant ladies "tend to run hot" (his words), so they felt I could be ignored. Dan Martin is a horrible property manager, in addition to all of this (and so much more), in the month leading up to me leaving, he saw it fit to illegally enter my apartment without my consent, no fewer than three times AFTER I brought the first entrance to his attention. This is a piss poor company. I wouldn't live under them again if I was paid to do so. Please live anywhere else.

I lived at Pemberton Apartments for a little over one year. I will least the pros and cons of the place and then allow you to make your own conclusion.

Pros:
- Safe part of town.
- Affordable 2 bedroom apartments.
- Quiet environment with thoughtful residents.
- Pleasant front office.

Cons:
- No in-unit laundry washer/dryer. This can be rough traveling to the community laundry center. Secondly, the washer/dryer units are old. The dryers can not seem to thoroughly dry decent load sizes on the first cycle. It will take more than one cycle to appropriately dry

- Surprisingly, on my way out the door they charge me for a late payment fee for my apartment by reducing my security deposit. I felt this was un-professional as I was never notified of such a fee via email or during my exit process. I contend this to not be true as I have always paid my rents within the 5 day window and I was only told on my security deposit mail after I moved to a new city

Overall:

- Okay first time place in Winchester but definitely make your own assessment and shop around before committing.

Our HVAC system has been broken for almost 45 days. We notified them on day one. The HVAC contractor came by and said our system needed to be replaced. Our system has yet to be replaced. They continue to lie to us and not tell us anything about what's going on. Go somewhere else! Go somewhere else! These people are crooks. They treat us like kids not like adult college students. We've been there for 10 months and we are moving out. If our lease was up today we would be out of there. These people are nothing short of liars, cheaters and crooks. Aikins group needs to do something about their management team at Pemberton. If we were one day late on our rent, they told us they would have legal action against us. Apparently we have to hold our end of the lease, but they don't have to. Do not rent at Pemberton!

Lori and Doris are extremely helpful and have made our transition to apartment living a breeze. They are very responsive to our maintenance requests; it is nice to feel welcomed when dealing with them.

Most of the office staff is kind with the exception of the leasing agent She relishes speaking to people in a condescending manner. If I could relocate today, I would so that I would never have to encounter her again.
