I received a notice two days ago that this business is closing. This is way overdue. I actually have a court judgment against them that I won for their failure to complete my taxes or return my documents. They did not attend the two court dates. They still have not paid the judgment or returned my documents. The talk about "being behind" due to an employee leaving has been going on for years. Absolutely disgraceful.

Update: Went to courthouse today and recorded the judgment so it shows up as a lien against them. Then went to their office again. Long story short ... finally got my tax documents and my court costs. They tried to say I had not reached out to them, but I was able to present the 24 times I visited, called, or emailed, just like I presented to the Judge. Now I can finally get my taxes done (by someone else!)

We have been pleased in the past with the tax prep we received from Baughan's, but this year has been a disaster. I dropped off our family taxes, as well as returns for my mother and daughter, on March 20. It's now May 31, and our returns are not only not completed, but have not been touched. I was told right before the tax deadline that we'd need to file an extension because they have one tax preparer and that she's "making her way through the list". I've called multiple times since then and always get the same answer. While I understand that people leave companies unexpectedly, I'm very confused about why they STILL only have one preparer.

Went to Baughan's with high hopes. They sounded like they could handle my taxes easily. Up until now they only had 1 bad review. So I thought 1 bad review. Not so bad, sometimes stuff happens. I should've heeded that 1 review.It was spot on. Poor communication and service. They ran into an issue with 1 form that my previous tax prep guy had no trouble with. Their plan was to call the IRS and wait indefinitely until the IRS called them back. They have been waiting over two weeks. Meanwhile my state taxes are now late and interest and penalties are piling up. No communication from them at all. Not even to keep me updated about what was going on. I just asked them for my taxes back and would take them elsewhere. When I went to collect my taxes they didn't even have the courtesy to speak with me. Couldn't even say "sorry we couldn't help you" or "we wish this would've gone better". Not very friendly to new clients. Unless you need help with a 1040ez form go elsewhere. By the way, they have an arbitrary mask policy. The only one in the office wearing one was the receptionist.

Baughan's is not competent to handle your taxes. We recently received a notice from the IRS that we owed on taxes from a couple of years ago. Since Baughan's is who we used that year we took it in to them for them to see what the issue was. We gave it to them with three weeks until the deadline set by the IRS. Robert Moorhouse took them and we were assured it was a minor issue that could easily be fixed. We called Mr. Moorhouse every couple of days to ask about progress. He told us every time he was almost done, not to worry, and the deadline didn't mean anything. Almost two weeks after the deadline, it was apparent he either did not know how to fix the issue or just didn't care if they got done. Mr. Moorhouse was rude to my husband over the phone several times. Very unprofessional. We had to insist they give us back all the paperwork so that we could get it to another CPA. That CPA found the original issue was due to improper forms being filled out, an easy fix, but when looking at our taxes for that year, he had to completely redo them. He said it was a mess! The new CPA got everything fixed in two days. I would never take taxes back to Baughan's ever again.

Regretfully, I have to amend my formerly good review of Baughan's Financial Services. After getting excellent service through 2018, "the wheels came off the bus." First there was an erroneous Gift Tax filing that resulted in an IRS letter indicating I had to pay tax (I did not). I was never told what Baughan's did wrong, was just told, "don't worry about it" and never shown anything, no explanation. Then I was erroneously advised that I did not need a special electronic routing number from my bank to have a refund automatically deposited (I did, got paper refund check despite informing them of their error and having my bank call and inform them). It happened again the following year. Then when I attempted to use them for my last remaining parent's Estate and final year of life Income Tax, I simply got no response for months. Was told once communications finally started that "there seems to be a miscommunication on my attorney's part." There was not, it was on Baughan's part, first between a tax preparer and my attorney, and then between the CPA and attorney. I sent two emails requesting a ph. call mtg. to explain Baughan's misunderstanding to them. After five years of working together, and many cordial and convivial meetings where I thought we had built a good rapport, I simply never got a response. Unacceptable and unprofessional conduct. There is a sad story in that the former Tax Mgr. (who was wonderful) became ill and had to quit work full-time; after that, the business doesn't seem to have been well managed. There are many decent people there, but due to the now poor quality service, recommend going elsewhere.

I feel like they have completely declined over the past couple of years. My entire family has gone elsewhere. They refuse to let clients come in to complete taxes with an CPA. I'm assuming because of COVID, you still have to "drop off all paperwork." We are currently in year 2023... pretty sure we are past that now. I do not recommend at all.

My mother dealt with this company for years & she raved about them. I decided to use them for my moms taxes after she passed away. I had to pay for “e-sig” but was told I had to mail them in. Mailed the taxes in and the IRS needs more info. I have contacted this business 6 times and NO RESPONSE. I woukd not recommend this business

They have had our taxes since MARCH, they have yet to be filed. We have only been contacted to be told they had to file an extension (which I honestly don’t even know was really done) because they were “so backed up”. I have called MULTIPLE times recently trying to get an update on when the taxes will be complete- they DO NOT return calls or inform you of anything going on- I can only assume it’s because they aren’t doing anything at all! I wouldn’t go back here if they were the last place left in the world. It’s mind boggling to me how they are still in business.
