Very efficient, helpful and prompt in setting up a new policy with short notice. Looks like excellent coverage of home and autos, which appears better than previous insurance I'd had for years, knowledgeable too. 5 Stars + !

We found Briarcliff through Ramsey Solutions. We thought they would be honest, ethical, and reputable because of this. We scheduled a consultation and got a presentation from Eric. My wife and I felt he might be able to educate us regarding our current policies and best next steps.

My wife got some documents from Eric regarding their home, auto, and umbrella policies. However, she had some questions and wanted to get a better understanding of things. She even stated that she found some incorrect line items and wanted them fixed before signing anything. Eric responded but in a condescending way to her questions. At one point, he made sure to point out he had been doing this for over 30 years, was very confident in what he had done, but thanked her for being thorough.

As we were still deciding on whether or not to move forward with their policies, we received notification that our escrow had already paid them! This made us feel very uncomfortable since we never signed anything. My wife emailed Eric making him aware of this and stated we did not wish to use their services. He proceeded to ask why and doubted her claims that our escrow had paid them as they wouldn’t even have had time to receive the bill yet. I confirmed with Eric that we had confirmation from our bank that our escrow had already paid them, we wanted it refunded, and that my wife was clear on why we didn’t want to move forward.

Eric responded the next business day, apologizing for the misunderstanding, but blamed it all on my wife. He claims that because she gave him some information he was allowed to proceed and that the contract was just a formality that didn’t need to be signed. Eventually, he sent us cancellation documents that we had to sign stating we wished to cancel the policies we never signed up for in order to issue a refund! I am told we will get a refund in 7-10 business days. We’ll see if that’s accurate or not. We also are still cleaning up the mess they created with our mortgage company, bank, current insurance provider, and just learned our refund was submitted on Sunday, November 24th.

I spoke with three outside sources familiar with the insurance industry who told me 90% of insurance companies do not operate this way and this was 100% the agent’s fault. Any ethical company who does not want to give insurance companies a bad name, will always wait for the documents to be signed before proceeding. I would also add that not only did they pull from our escrow when we never signed anything, they also sent a home adjuster to our house without our knowledge, permission, or any type of communication. It is my opinion that they mistook our kindness as being naïve and an easy sale, since we mentioned we heard of them through Ramsey Solutions, so they just pushed us through creating this stressful situation for us.

My advice would be if you find this group through Ramsey Solutions or an online search to be wary of Briarcliff’s practices. After all, they’ve been doing this for over 30 years…

We did a new house build, and he found us a tremendous savings over what we were getting rates on previously on both our house & car insurance. Used them for home for a few years. Not terrible but they would never initiate the renewal process for looking for better insurance. I always had to contact them to ask about shopping around for other insurance. A few times, they were slow in responding so I decided to keep my auto with another carrier. This past month, I was interested in adding auto and I received a quote, fairly expeditious for a change. After a couple weeks, I asked a very simple question about adding a new car. A different agent asked for ALL my cars and info again and I replied stating that Eric already started the quote, I just needed an updated one with the new car. Zero response. I emailed them both a few times and never received a reply. I think they are good with "new" business but lack or are simply overwhelmed to truly take care of their current customers.
