The thing about Castro Valley Allstate is that you can reach a person by phone and talk through your insurance issues, and they will help you. When you leave a message, they phone back, are courteous and friendly, and help you navigate the ins and outs of the process of filing your claim, and in my case, getting my car repaired properly. They really went the distance.
Renting a car, which was on my policy, was smooth and straightforward.

I have been a customer for decades. Recently, California insurance took a $$ hike and I went shopping because my insurance went up a little bit - guess what? Castro Valley Allstate was still cheaper. It also is hard to find old fashioned customer service where you get to talk to people in the office and ask how your day has been - this agency in Castro Valley is the best, and they have proven themselves to us repeatedly. Will be a lifetime customer!

Vanessa was terrible. Not only did she continually talk over me, give me an ultimatum that we HAD to go to the dmv to get my car registered to another family members name (which was not the case when I bought a car 2 years prior), she then hung up on me (and almost did it twice when I called back). It took getting my mom on the phone to suggest an easier alternative, which Vanessa never thought of since she just said either I have to go to the DMV or I would have to pay more. Really really terrible and even after getting my mom on the phone she tried to end the call so many times. She has no interest in helping her customers. Honestly I've never experienced such terrible customer service.

We have 3 policies with this Agency. all are set up for auto pay, which is a real convenience. Still I received courtesy calls whenever there are updates to keep us abreast of new changes. One time was a premium reduction, which is a rare occurrence nowadays. Happy with this Agency.

Go with the cheap name insurance, even if you have property coverage they will toss you coins for your loss. Nothing worse than dealing with Allstate. Their claims department NEVER answers their phone, it took me like 2-3 weeks to reach the person and then they close out the claim without communicating with you, all based on what little detail they can get from your messages or short conversations when you actually get to talk to them. Not only that, but they changed claim handlers 4 times so fast I had no idea who I was talking to anymore. I was very modest about my valuable items costs and Allstate just wanted to marginalize every bit they possibly could beyond that. I was so patient and kind to them, and in the end this is how you will feel. It's not worth getting your insurance with a big name company like Allstate... it's all a big name and big face. One day you'll see what I mean if you actually need to use your insurance. It already sucks, and then when you finally think you shouldn't feel so awful about your loss... just wait for Allstate to toss you some chump change. Next month I'll end my...10 years? with Allstate. I can tell you now that getting extra coverage doesn't mean crap with Allstate. If you have valuable stuff, spend more money on security and get the cheap name insurance.

You'll never replace what you lost with Allstate. They give a fraction of what you had, then you have to buy it again and pay tax again, and then with what little money Allstate gave you... YOU GET TO PAY A TON OF TAXES TO THE GOVERNMENT ON IT.

Lesson: Get more security and don't bother paying Allstate for extra insurance just because you have valuable stuff. They will have you jump through a million hoops like they made me do... they really make it into a circus trying to process claims and you'll be the last to know what a joke it is. I am at about a $5k+ loss and got a $900 check after a few months... I threw the check away and told my claims handler to take the money and find an honest company to work for.

I hope you guys enjoyed the 10 years of making money on me. Turns out you never had my back.
