Completely disappointed with the warranty. I’ve been a loyal customer with them for over 7 years. Minor claims they paid out in total of 500 max vs the over 6,000 I paid to them. I just called them yesterday to file a claim for my furnace not working and no heat with temps at below 0. It was an emergency and they informed me the first time I was able to bring a local third party company to fix the issue and submit the bill. Fast forward after the company came and we called to submit the invoice, they gave me the runaround and said they don’t take companies who are not within their requests. I explained the representative told me other and I have been getting nothing but rude representatives. I said this was an emergency since I have 3 young babies and o can’t have them freeze. They said their emergency time frame is 24/48 hours. I was in complete shock.
What bothers me the most is I’m a real estate agent who referred all of my closing clients (12 plus a year) to sign up with them with no referral fee since they were that good in the past. But here I’m fighting left and right about this which is a simple solution. Just canceled my second home I have with them and planning to cancel my current home if they don’t resolve this. I will also make sure to reach out to all my clients who signed up and explain the situation and have the over 50 clients who signed up. Very very disappointed. I’ve been nothing but loyal for 7 years with bare minimum claims.

First American Home Warranty company SUCKS!!! With every claim ever filed, it takes them an ABSOLUTE UNACCEPTABLE amount of time to get a qualified technician over to address the issue. Currently, I've been without a functioning oven for 3 weeks, with appointments cancelled multiple times (during the appointment window, while I'm waiting for someone to show up), only to be rescheduled by the same company for another week out (again!). Just recently, I was without hot water for 6 weeks while waiting on them to get the situation resolved and I was still charged $750 out of pocket (in addition to the ~ $150/mo. that I pay just to have the policy!) I am cancelling my policy with them and will be looking for a more reputable company who delivers on what they promise.

They are very terrible. I submitted a claim and was told I would get contacted in 48 hours, and I did not get a phone call for a week and half. I had to make the phone call to understand what was going on rather than the company making sure that I got the service I needed. They also do everything in their power to not replace the appliance, instead just doing a band-aide type of repair that will last another 60 days until it breaks down again. Waste of money. The only time they proactively communicate with you is when your contract is about to expire and they need your money again.

I’ve been with FAHW over 10 years and service was never this bad. I placed a service request on 11/21/2024 for my double oven. As of today (2/11/25) I still do not have a working oven. I think I’ve been more than patient.

I also placed a service call around the third week of December 2024 regarding my dishwasher. As of today - it has not been repaired.

If you are looking for a warranty company, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

I’ve been with this company for 6 years! Only made 2 claims that was less then $1500 in repairs, it’s winter in Michigan and my furnace goes out, I call to make a claim, the representative states they are starting a claim, then said 24-48 hrs, I have 4 kids! I tell them I cannot wait that long it’s freezing and temp dropped below 55 in my house while outside was 3 degrees, I told them can I get someone myself because it’s an emergency, they said yes, have them come and send us an invoice, the guy I found showed up in 3 hrs, found the mother board fried, gives us an invoice, we call this warranty back and they say” you canceled your claim earlier today”, I said no i canceled the person you wanted to send within 24-48hrs and you guys said get someone and send us the invoice, now they say that’s not protocol and they will not go outside their recommended companies and left me with a $1200 bill!! After they already took out a $125 deductible, this company is fraudsters and deff know how to piss their loyal customers off, highly recommend you not waste your time and get another company that will accommodate you especially when it’s an emergency!

I had a really positive experience with First American Warranty after purchasing their Gold Package as part of my home purchase. The home I bought is older, and I was having issues with the boiler shortly after moving in. I filed a claim, and they were quick to send out a technician.

The technician was thorough, professional, and quickly identified the problem with the boiler. He explained everything clearly and assured me that the necessary repair would be covered under my warranty. I was relieved to find that the repair was fully taken care of without any out-of-pocket costs.

I’m very happy with the service I received and how seamless the process was. The warranty gave me peace of mind knowing that my older systems were covered, and I’d definitely recommend them to anyone in need of reliable home coverage.

Terrible service. Please do yourself a favor and pick another home warranty service. The warranty company First American is doing nothing to get our refrigerator repaired and the contractor they assigned AGo Home Appliance is completely incompetent and cannot figure out what’s wrong.

I’ve had (updated now) 5 service calls on my refrigerator and it’s been 34 days my refrigerator has not worked properly since my claim on December 7th and it’s still not working. The refrigerator portion freezes all the food. I’ve attached photos of the internal temperature after each repair.

The appliance contractor AGo Home appliance doesn’t want to admit they can’t repair the refrigerator so the warranty company just says they can’t do anything for us. It’s our problem. The appliance company will not come out again and no longer responds to our calls. No future repair has been scheduled. The warranty will not contact us even after we leave messages nor will they intervene and my representative tiara Atkins will not call us even though we’ve left three message!

What would you do? It’s the most unreal problem I’ve ever encountered. My warranty expires in a month. They are waiting me out. Any suggestions anyone?

Update. First American with a 1.1 rating on Yelp with over 2.1k reviews stopped supporting our repair. We just bought another refrigerator. Without any investigation or conversation with us just ended the repair with incorrect information provided by their F rated repair company by the Better Business Bureau.

You’re better off not using the warranty because they aren’t interested in helping you. That’s the nature of “insurance “

First American Home Warranty has by far given me the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The contractors they work with are deceiving and provide patches instead of real repairs. I have brought it to their attention several times, on various occasion and with no resolution. Each service request I submit takes more than 30 days to resolve and often times no resolution. The last issue I had with my heater only received resolution when I filed a BBB complaint. I strongly advise you to pick any other home warranty company. It has to be better than this one.
