I canceled my insurance 2 years prior because of move and job change and no longer needed the commercial liability. It was a shock to see that they had billed my debit card for the year prior and the following year, wiping out my account during the holidays. When I called to talk to customer service it was difficult to get a hold of anyone and after calling 4 days in a row still no answers about when the money will be put back into my account do to a computer glitch. This is completely unexceptable.

It has taken 7 days to get an endorsement and nothing done. If you get the Las Vegas office, hang up. They are incompetent. I have uploaded docs 3 times for them and they can't seem to find them. You tell me how good they are?

Horrible customer service ( Rose ). I was calling to update my information and she kept rudely interrupting. I obtained this insurance policy one year ago and I called to update my address and Rose informed me that my job title is not eligible for coverage through their service. I've had the account for 1 year and not once have they advised me of this information but each month they have been withdrawing the payment from my bank account. (Theft). I would not recommend these crooks to anyone.

I do not recommend Hiscox to any contractor. I have Hiscox and every time my policy renews or there is a change they are required to report to the CSLB and the never do. I call and they claim they have no idea what I am talking about every year. They say that this is not true when I am holding the paper from CSLB in my hand stating otherwise. They claim to work with thousands of contractors and have never had to do this which is a lie. Or well maybe not since there are probably tens of thousands of unlicensed but insured contractors in California. HISCOX IS REQUIRED BY LAW TO REPORT THE POLICY TO THE CSLB!!!!!!!

After being covered for a year; I called Hiscox to discuss renewal and straight away was told their "Architect's, Engineers and Drafting Services" coverage doesn't cover what I do, which is designing fire suppression systems. The closest engineering field is fire protection engineering. They exclude coverage for mechanical engineering and apparently that is supposed to include fire suppression, even though they have zero documents broadening "mechanical engineering". They said if it has to do with construction design, they don't cover it, which is ridiculous because architects are designing buildings to have them constructed, like I'm designing the fire suppression to have someone else construct it. Treat this company like a home warranty; a false sense of security with purposely vague exclusions meant to keep them from paying out, in the unlikely event you even need to activate it.

Absolutely the worst experience!
Avoid Hiscox they will never pay on a claim!
What is the point of insurance if you file a claim and they offer nothing but more stress to an already stressful time.
My salon was closed for construction on the building and in my salon. (Not by my choice) The constactors made a disaster of my business. From the clean up and the time closed I figured at least my insurance provided reimbursement.
Yeah right!!
Hiscox has put us off to a outside company, that doesn't return calls or emails. They tried to offer 14$ per day! What!!
I now have get a lawyer!!
Anyone who has written a positive review on here has not filed a claim.
Hiscox is not worth you time. Avoid!!!!!
