Absolutely horrible experience. They added employees to their list of 401k participants without authorization. As soon as we found this out they charged us for 30+ employees that never signed up for 401k. They were not even contributing. I cancelled immediately and they have responded with nothing but ridiculous excuses of why it is not cancelled yet. Every response looks like this-
"The plan is currently in the "Reconciliation" phase of the termination process. This process is to ensure all of the assets are harmonize and we can report accurate data on the final plan records. The reconciliation began on 04/14 and can take up to 30 days to complete. From there the team will prepare the final compliance tests before beginning to force-out the employee balances."

We notified to cancel at the end of January and here we are going into May and they still have not cancelled nor stopped billing us.

We've loved using human interest for our small business! They've simplified and automated the 401k process for us, and were one of the more affordable options out there. They also integrate seamlessly with our payroll provider making it extremely easy to use.

The customer service feature is a little difficult, although we've been assigned a Representative they haven't always been responsive, and then we had to work to get someone else, but other than that it's been a great experience and I would recommend!

Among the worst of all the choices I made opening my own business. The bar was extremely low as the LexisNexis rep was positioned to be the worst I had ever dealt with in perpetuity.

Human interest assured me I could end of year contribute to a 401k as I don’t take a salary. No one answered, email responses had me a month out for a meeting. So I emailed to cancel. It took about month to have a 5 minute phone call and another month for them to send the paperwork.

After processing the paperwork they have continued to charge me. They deduct money out of the business operating account every two weeks despite having no contract, a handful of emails, and a cancellation which they have processed. It has been 2.5 months and they removed cash again yesterday.

They are completely unreachable and unresponsive. The continuing unauthorized bank transfers have been troubling…but the lack of action is perhaps the most disturbing.

If you’re considering using them, I would suggest reconsidering.q

TERRIBLE COMPANY!! As a consumer and customer of this company this has been the worst experience possible! If possible I would rate it negative value. Since 5 months I have requested a rollover and the company is unable to deliver a check of my funds to me!!! I yet don’t have access to the funds and lost time on growth. The CSR is unable to track your funds. They refuse to pay for tracking services and are nickel and diming me! The first time I have heard the CSR asking for the customers UPS/ FedEx account number and I need to pay for overnight delivery. That’s the only option they will entertain at my expense. I have worked with several companies- Fidelity, Vanguard, Empower etc not experienced such terrible service and customer relations. I wish I had read the reviews earlier and would not have ever invested with them. Stay away you’re better off investing elsewhere! Some small startup that’s good for companies not the actual employees of those companies!!

For instance, when employees elect a contribution with a confirmed 3% match, the system logs it, yet months pass with no action. This isn’t a minor glitch; it’s a systemic failure that jeopardizes compliance with federal retirement plan regulations.

Worse, Human Interest provides zero proactive oversight. No one from their team flags these issues or notifies clients of discrepancies—you’re left entirely to fend for yourself. It’s as if they expect you to hound them relentlessly just to ensure they perform the most basic functions of their job. This isn’t service; it’s neglect. For any business entrusting their employees’ financial future to a 401(k) provider, Human Interest’s cavalier approach to compliance and accountability is a glaring red flag. Management should take note: this isn’t just poor performance—it’s a breach of trust that could expose clients to legal and financial risk. Potential customers, beware: this company cannot be relied upon.ā€

I had high expectations when choosing Human Interest, but unfortunately, my experience has been less than satisfactory. Customer service is a major area of concern – they are difficult to reach, and response times are consistently slow. When I do manage to get through, the representatives are often unhelpful and unable to provide clear, concise answers to my questions. This lack of availability and responsiveness has been frustrating, especially when trying to resolve urgent matters.

Moreover, their billing practices are inefficient and have led to unnecessary complications. Despite only utilizing their services until the 3rd of the month, they charged me for the entire month. This overcharge was not addressed promptly, and resolving the issue has been time-consuming. The lack of attention to detail and transparency in their billing process reflects poorly on their overall service.

Overall, I would not recommend Human Interest to others. There are clearly better options available for those looking for reliable customer service and accurate, efficient billing practices.
