I am extremely disappointed with the services these tax “professionals” provided my husband and I with.

We picked JS Morlu because of how highly rated they were on Google. Ha! These people have been a NIGHTMARE to work with and are extremely unprofessional and incompetent. They ignore emails and when you call them, they don’t pick up the phone! Days and even weeks (for one email, we emailed on May 5th and didn’t get any response until May 22nd) will go by without an email response to very basic questions we had that should’ve taken less than 5 mins to respond to. We would constantly send follow up emails asking for a response to no avail. When they would finally respond, they would often not answer all the questions asked (usually responding with just 1-3 word responses leaving you wondering what they were actually responding to).

On the rare occasion that you did get them to pick up the phone and schedule an appointment, they would cancel or reschedule last moment (one occasion, they literally sent an email 20 mins before our scheduled appointment telling us they had to cancel).

It took my husband physically going down to their office, unscheduled, for us to be able to file our taxes since they just would not respond to emails or phone calls.

So we ended up filing LATE and on top of that, they screwed up our VA taxes AND our NY taxes. For VA, they apparently tried to apply subtractions to our filing that we didn’t qualify for. VA later sent us a Notice of Assessment telling us we still owed thousands of dollars more than we paid and that now we also had to pay extension fee and interest on what we owed. They also screwed up our NY tax returns as well and yet again, we got a letter from NY stating we owe more and now we also owe interest and late fees.

The worst thing is they also filed an amended return on our behalf WITHOUT OUR SIGNATURES. We found out when we got a letter from VA asking for refund verification.

These people do NOT know what they’re are doing. It’s been a nightmare to work with them. They are late. They are incompetent. They are unprofessional. They include false information on your returns. They will put down blatantly false information (wrong dates, wrong residencies) and apply you for obviously incorrect exceptions. If I could give zero stars, I would.

I would rather perform a root canal on myself following a YouTube tutorial in a language I don’t speak rather than work with these people ever again.

In response to the ridiculous response JS Morlu gave. I skimmed through because it’s all lie. First of all, Jett never signed the amended return so you should have never filed it! You filed it without his signature. What about that do you not understand? You sent him a draft and asked him to sign. He never signed. You filed regardless. You’re in the wrong and should admit it.

So now we have to spend more money, time and effort to work with a different CPA to fix the mess you made and there’s no guarantee that it’ll even be able to be fixed.

Additional update: Almost a year later we’re still working with our new CPA and IRS to get this fixed, especially the VA state taxes. Turns out, if we had a competent CPA from the start, we would have just paid under $400 to VA but thanks to Morlu, we ended up paying well over $5,000. So we’re still trying to get our refund of $4,000+ for all that we overpaid.

Not responsive to emails and calls. Tried adding tax exemptions for which I (very clearly) did not qualify. Many mistakes on my taxes. Overall came away frustrated and disappointed with the experience. I wouldn’t recommend coming here for your individual tax services
