If I could give negative stars on this review I would. I also want to state that I have never taken the time to write a negative review before, but in light of my recent experience with the VIVA refinance as well as my interactions with 2 separate employees of VIVA finance I am compelled to write this review. I was solicited by VIVA finance through multiple emails and multiple text messages to refinance my current loan with them. I went on the VIVA website to process the refinance, during this process the website shows all the current personal information they have for the loan including name, address, salary etc. In these sections there is an edit option where the information can be edited. I proceeded to edit both my last name due to getting married, address and salary (mine increased). VIVA website allowed me to update this information. Once updated I proceeded through the remainder of the refinance and submitted it. Once complete I got a message stating I was not eligible. I also received an email stating my refinance application was close. no reason was given just that I could contact customer support, which I did. While chatting with Donna online she told me my refinance was denied due to changing my personal information. When I explained that their website gave me the option and ability to edit information without a disclaimer that it would disqualify me, she was unable to explain to me why other than "changes I made to my personal information impacted my eligibility since refinance is designed to be efficient" After going back and forth for 10+ minutes without resolve I requested to speak to a supervisor, which Donna was hesitant to do. When I finally got a call back from Maya she apologized to me and stated that they are still developing their refinance options and that she would "forward my feedback to her internal team" When I asked to speak to Maya supervisor she proceeded to tell me that she was the head of operations. I asked for her last name which she replied "that is confidential" I expressed that I didn't understand why if she was the head of operation why her last name would be confidential and that I could jsut look it up online as executive teams are typically public. At this time Maya decided to correct herself and let me know she was jsut head of phone operation where she is. I continued to state that even if she is the head of phone operation, unless she was the president/CEO there has to be someone she reports to someone and I'd like to speak to them. She told me that her supervisor is just "internal" and doesn't take calls. (That in and of itself as a business practice blows my mind.) Maya even raised her voice at me towards the end of this call in which I had to ask her not to do. The first time I asks she told me she wasn't, in which I explained that although she may not realize it, she was getting worked up and how she was speaking to me in that moment was very different then how she was in the beginning of the call. She apologized and informed me what she could & would do was talk to her "internal team" to see what they could do since there isn't a disclaimer on their website about updating information could disqualify you.
I can only imagine that there has to be some sort of legal implication on VIVA finance if they are soliciting their current loan customers with eligibility to refinance, giving them the ability to edit personal information yet not disclosing that editing that information with disqualify them from that VIVA solicited them that they were eligible for. How is it legal for VIVA finance to disqualify me from refinancing a loan solely based on updating my last name to what it is legally according to the US government? VIVA please explain to me how your decision to disqualify me due to me editing information YOUR WEBSITE allowed me to edit is legal? Maybe I need to pursue this further with legal representation.
